Fonts

What are OpenType features?

OpenType features allow you to activate typographic extras that are already baked into the font. Stylistic sets, swash caps and ligatures are just a few of the many features that can be triggered to change the font’s appearance or functionality.

All Chill Type fonts have OpenType features which can be tested at the bottom of the product page. (Check them out for Chill Sans or Bufano)

How can I use OpenType Features?

Most design software allows you to trigger OpenType features via one of their panels. We recommend checking out these tutorials for InDesign and Figma.

What font formats do you provide?

We provide OTF for Desktop & App licenses and WOFF & WOFF2 for web licenses.

Can I use your fonts on on my website?

Of course! You can host them on your website and embed them easily via @font-face. We recommend checking out this tutorial.

Can I modify the fonts?

You are not permitted to modify, decompile, alter or edit the the font files under any circumstance. You can, however, outline the live font in a software like Illustrator and edit the vector paths there.

Can you modify the fonts for me?

Absolutely! One of our services is font modification. We can extend the character set or customize the existing one. Please get in touch with us and let us know how we can help.

Do you make custom fonts?

Licensing

How does the font licensing work?

Chill Type’s font licensing is directly inspired by the pricing model ABC Dinamo introduced in 2020. Rather than basing the price on how many people in a company use the font files, it is based on the company size. No page views, no CPUs, no app users. Just company size.

What kind of licenses do you offer?

We offer licenses for Desktop, App and Web use.

Are there free fonts?

Yes! We offer free trial fonts.

What are trial fonts?

Trial fonts are fonts you can use for testing, mockups and personal experiments. They include all current releases and have a limited character set. A Desktop, Web or App license has to be purchased for commercial use. You can read the full Trial Fonts licensing terms here.

I bought the wrong license. What should I do?

Can I use a font I bought from Chill Type in a logo?

You can use the fonts in a logo if your company size doesn’t exceed 50 people. If your company exceeds that size and you wish to use the fonts for logos, contact us for a custom extended license.

What’s Paddle?

Paddle is an all-in-one payment processor handling payments on chilltype.com.

I have a discount code. Where can I enter it?

Once you have selected your fonts and hit the “Proceed to checkout” button, a pop up with your order summary will show up. Below the subtotal is a link that says “Add discount”. Click it and enter your code in the form below.

How are my fonts delivered?

Once you purchase a font we’ll create an account for you and send you your login credentials to access the fonts you’ve purchased. Please check your spam folder if the login credentials don’t arrive in your inbox and contact us directly if they don’t show up in there either.

Where is my invoice?

Once you purchased a font you should get an invoice from Paddle via email. Please check your spam folder if it doesn’t arrive in your inbox or contact us directly.
